Demo day – how to get involved

For British Science Week 2016, Demo Day will take place on Thursday 17 March.

Demo Day is an opportunity to celebrate the power that hands-on science demonstrations have to inspire, excite and fuel the imaginations of young people.  We’re encouraging all secondary schools to get involved and pledge their participation as part of our national campaign.

Experienced?

If you are a teacher or technician who frequently runs demos in class, then do please sign up and share your involvement via social media @ScienceWeekUK #DemoDay16 to help inspire others.

Beginner?

If you are new to running demos with your class, then check out our digital resources for ideas and support.

Register your demo

We’re keen to count the total number of schools participating in Demo Day 2016, so please register your demo – or the date and time of the class you’re going to hold it in – as an ‘event’ on our registration system – we’re really keen to count the number of schools taking part, and your pledge will show up on our map.

Funding available for your demo

Consumable equipment is eligible for funding via our school grants.  Applications are open until Monday 23 November, so explore the various grant schemes on offer – and the respective entry criteria – and register your demo as an ‘event’ on our registration system where you’ll also be able to apply for a grant on the same online form.
