While the main purpose of British Science Week is to inspire and facilitate a grassroots celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths featuring events and activities all around the UK, the British Science Association is also putting on a number of flagship events during the week.
Our events:
- Music and the Geek (Liverpool) Join us for an evening of science, music, comedy and dancing with ScienceGrrl
- The Age of Genius and the rise of science (London) – Professor AC Grayling discusses his new book, exploring the importance of scientific ideas in the 17th century **This event is free to Members and Friends of the BSA’s membership scheme, and all tickets include a free drink**
- Future Debate (London) – ‘A robot stole my job: will automated technologies destroy British culture?’, a panel debate with thought leaders
- The Story Collider (London) – True, personal stories about science: five storytellers will share their exciting tales of how science changed their lives
- Where science meets art at the V&A (London) – Exclusive two-hour tour revealing how science is applied at the famous V&A Museum.
- Scanning the Horizon: space travel through the ages (London) – Join us as we get unique access to clips from BBC’s Horizon and watch how science and scientific thinking has evolved over the past five decades
- Girls in the Game (Manchester) – The world’s largest football museum will host a day of activities celebrating and taking inspiration from the success of the England Ladies in last year’s World Cup
- Spring into Fitness (Newmarket) – The Racing Centre is hosting a marketplace-style event with fun activities for all ages, exploring health and fitness within racing and beyond
We also have an array of flagship education events taking place across the UK (although these are not open to the public), not to mention our series of Behind the Scenes of British Science events – opportunities to get exclusive access to everything from Cancer Research UK’s laboratories to the Royal Mail’s modern mail centre – for a range of audiences, adults, families and school groups.
