British Science Week 2024 is just around the corner on 8-17 March – it’s about time!

The two-month countdown begins to the special 30th of anniversary the Week, and you can get started by getting stuck in to STEM fun now with our British Science Week activity packs – available from today!

The packs, available to download free now, include loads more fun and educational activities based around the theme of ‘Time’, as we’d like to celebrate together with you the huge milestone of the Week’s 30th anniversary, thinking about time since the Week began, and looking to the future. You will also find all of the information, tip and tricks, in the packs, as well as extended activities such as taking part in CREST Awards.

Lots of STEM subjects fall under time’s umbrella, allowing for a wide range of brilliant activities! There are experiments for all ages looking at different ways we tell the time, from sand to the stars, and hands-on projects including exploring food chains and chemical reaction times. We’ve also included very low-resource projects to get children and young people thinking about how we use our time – all you need is a pen and paper!

The education packs cover ages under 5s to 14, although these are just recommendations, feel free to use and adapt them for any age group! We have the Early Years pack (under 5s), Primary pack (ages 5-11) and Secondary pack (ages 11-14).

We also have Community pack which offers activities for adults to do as a group in community settings, or to share with children.

All the packs also include a page about our poster competition! The competition is open to children and young people aged up to 14, and prizes are awarded in four different age categories so all entrants have a chance of winning. The theme of the poster competition is also ‘Time’, and if you’re looking for ideas, we’ve marked activities that could provide inspiration with a paintbrush symbol.

We’d love to hear all about you having fun with the packs! Get in touch via Twitter and Facebook, and don’t forget to use the hashtag #BSW24.
