The theme for British Science Week 2026, ‘Curiosity: what’s your question?’, is all about encouraging people to embrace their passions, find the answers to their most burning STEM questions.
As part of the celebrations of the Week and this special theme, this year, we’ve spoken to a diverse group of scientists, STEM professionals, researchers working across STEM fields from sport science to microbiology about what they’re curious about.
To inspire young people, particularly secondary students who might be thinking about how to turn their interests and aptitude into career paths, we’ve created a series of short videos, ‘Are you curious about…’, featuring each of them sharing how curiosity shaped their lives, and advice for young people thinking about their futures.
The speakers include the world-renowned geneticist, Professor Giles Yeo from University of Cambridge; Pathway tutor at Everton in the Community, Joy Dlamini; Archaeologist, Dr. Flint Dibble from Cardiff University; EDI and Wellbeing adviser, Dr. Jenna Kenyani from University of Liverpool; researchers Dr. Jontana Allkja and Olivia Flynn from National Biofilms Innovation Centre at University of Liverpool; Professor of Behavioural Science, David Ellis from University of Bath; Senior Lecturer in Space Engineering, Dr. Stefania Soldini from University of Liverpool; Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Alex Baker from University of Warwick.
These videos are being released on British Science Week’s Facebook page, British Science Association’s Instagram and TikTok.
