The British Science Week 2026 activity packs are out now

The countdown to British Science Week 2026 has begun – 6-15 March is just under two months away!

You don’t have to wait until March to start bringing STEM to life in your classrooms – our British Science Week 2026 activity packs are available from today!

The packs, available to download for free, include lots of fun and educational activities, all adaptable for all ages based around the theme of ‘Curiosity: what’s your question?’; each activity has children explore a question they might have about the world.

The packs cover ages under 5s to 14, although these are just recommendations, feel free to use and adapt them for any age group! We have the Early Years pack (under 5s), Primary pack (ages 5-11) and Secondary pack (ages 11-14).You’ll also information for schools and educators on how to incorporate CREST into your plans, during and after the Week, and details about upcoming opportunities from some of our partners.

‘Curiosity: what’s your question?’ opens the door to every STEM subject, allowing for a wide range of brilliant activities. There are experiments for all ages including making a water filter, building a bird’s next, and researching what it would be like to live and work in Antarctica!

We’ve also included low-resource challenges to get children and young people thinking about how much they will change in a year, how to work best as a team, and what role AI should have in our lives.

The poster competition is back!

All the packs also include information about our poster competition.

This year, along with the NUSTEM team at Northumbria University we’ve partnered with the Government Office for Science for an extra-special competition.

The UK government are thinking about how to build a positive future for children. They are keen to understand children and young people’s own ideas on this, so they are asking:
What are children and young people’s visions for a good/positive childhood?

Children and young people from age 3 all the way up to 19 will be invited to enter the competition, and be in with the chance to win some brilliant science-themed prizes.

You’ll find extra supporting resources in the activity packs to help guide the competition entrants to think about good childhoods and plan their posters.

The poster submission platform will open closer to British Science Week as we are now working hard with our competition partners on it. It will stay open until the competition closing date, 16 April 2026.
